Insufficient evidence / under studyCgradePlausibility · Plausible as heat; the infraredThermal / Thermoregulatory
Radiant cabins at roughly 49–60 °C. Plausible as heat — but two claim-splits matter. The Finnish sauna cohort evidence does NOT transfer here (that studied traditional dry saunas at 71–100 °C; see the traditional-sauna row). And heat is not detoxification: sweat is not a principal elimination route.
Infrared emitters heat the body directly; claimed benefits span cardiovascular health, recovery and 'detoxification'.
Plausibility
Plausible as heat; the infrared-specific advantage over conventional heating is unproven, and detoxification claims are unsupported.
Evidence — grade C
Infrared-specific outcome evidence remains short-horizon, but it is not marginal: the relevant systematic review is Hussain & Cohen 2018 (EBCAM; 40 clinical studies, 3,855 participants, only 13 randomised, most n<40), and 25 of those 40 studies are INFRARED — a substantial infrared portion, which is why the grade moves C/D → C (owner-ratified 2026-07-19). The review covers BOTH Finnish and infrared saunas, which is why it is citable here, unlike the Kuopio/Laukkanen cohort work (a different design, which stays on the traditional-sauna row and is NOT stated to sit inside this review). TIER IS UNCHANGED — Insufficient evidence / under study; grade is not part of the tier.
